Announcing the Lexmark #41 and #42 Inkjet Print cartridges.

Today we are introducing the new Lexmark #41, #41A, #42, #42A inkjet print cartridges for best quality printing.

Supplies Overview
The new cartridges complete the range of Lexmark inkjet Return Programme cartridges, which gives users new choices for reducing their printing costs, including discounted cartridges. The Return Programme Cartridge will also help to protect the environment because Lexmark will reuse or recycle the returned cartridges.
Under the programme:

1. Users can purchase Lexmark #42 black or #41 colour cartridges at prices that reflect an up-front discount compared to alternative equivalent cartridges in exchange for agreeing to return the used cartridges only to Lexmark for remanufacturing or recycling.

2. Alternative cartridges, #42A black and #41A colour will be available for consumers who prefer to recycle cartridges themselves.

3. High-volume users can also elect to purchase #44 black and #43 colour cartridges, which offer users the opportunity to achieve lower per-page costs.

4. Users who want to print photos with best quality and longer archivability can also use #40 photo cartridges.

 Epson Environmental Policy
Faster. More attractive. More photorealistic. These have been the key themes for printer research at Epson. Yet Epson has another research theme that is just as important as these functional themes: environmental performance. Epson considers environmental performance throughout the life cycle of a product - from planning and design to materials and component procurement, manufacturing, logistics, use, recovery and recycling - to be an integral part of product quality. Put another way, even a product with outstanding features and functional capabilities is considered to be of poor quality if adequate attention is not paid to the product`s environmental impact. This attention to environmental performance has been a common, unbroken thread throughout the development history of Epson inkjet printers.

The Three Basic Environmental Themes
- Energy-saving, resource conservation, and hazardous substance elimination -

There are three environmental themes that Epson emphasizes during product development: energy-saving design, resource conservation, and hazardous substance elimination. To guide product designers toward better performance in each of these areas, Epson has introduced an ecology labeling system. This system sets forth self-imposed criteria for environmentally-conscious products, and product development is geared toward satisfying these criteria, some of which are part of Group-wide standards and some of which are standards set forth by the operations division for each product category.

Group-wide standards for Epson Ecology Label

  • Throughout the product`s lifecycle, improve energy savings at time of use, resource savings, and elimination of hazardous substances. For existing models, set targets that are superior to industry standards and attain them.

  • Meet the following requirements- Reduce power consumption during use and while in standby mode. - Do not include any chemical substances designated as prohibited by Epson. - Indicate material used on plastic components weighing 25 grams or more.- Indicate material used for compact secondary batteries; design it for easier loading/ unloading.- Indicate packaging materials subject to Japanese Law for Containers and Packaging Recycling and EU Packaging Directive - Indicate material used for plastic packaging materials.- Content of specified heavy metals in packaging materials should be below 100 ppm.

  • Conduct product assessments.

Epson is also proactively participating in an ecomark program being implemented by the Japan Environment Association, which permits products having recognized usefulness in environmental protection to bear the association`s ecomark. So far, eight models of Epson inkjet printer and three types of printer paper have earned the right to bear this mark.

Epson is also expanding the number of products that are compliant with a Japanese green purchasing law enacted in 2001. Specifically affected are products corresponding to the "specified procurement items, etc." category set forth under the Law on Promoting Green Purchasing (Law Concerning the Promotion of Procurement of Eco-Friendly Goods and Services by the State and Other Entities).

"The highest quality products are ones with the lowest environmental impact." While society first began holding companies accountable for their willingness to deal with environmental issues quite some years ago, it is perhaps the pursuit of this ideal, the maintenance of a steady commitment to turning this thinking into concrete action, that marks an environmental company of the twenty-first century.
